Tipping works differently from the English-speaking world. In Spain a propina is optional and small, often just the coins left over, and nobody expects a percentage; leaving twenty percent marks you out immediately. Two words get confused constantly: el recibo is the slip you get after paying, while la factura is a formal invoice with your name and tax number, which you must request at the moment of payment if you need it for work. El billete means a banknote and also a travel ticket, so un billete de veinte is money but un billete de tren is transport. Also note that small bars may put up a sign saying no se admiten billetes de 50, so carry coins, and that Latin America usually says el boleto for a ticket and la plata colloquially for money.
