Typical mistakes

Ella leió el libro.

Ella leyó el libro.

i between vowels becomes y: leyó, leyeron, leyendo.

Estoy leiendo.

Estoy leyendo.

Same rule in the gerund: leyendo, creyendo, oyendo.

He leido mucho.

He leído mucho.

The i carries an accent so it stays a separate syllable: le-í-do.
